Support Worker

The role of the Support worker is to support people with disabilities and work closely with their family/whanau in a manner consistent with the core values of Renaissance group: respect, inclusion (person-centered), innovation, excellence and professionalism. The support and services offered to each individual are identified through a personal plan developed in negotiation with each individual and are specific to their needs.

This position would  suit someone who is flexible and prepared to work variable shifts including evenings and weekend – someone with a great attitude and life skills to work with individuals with a disability, supporting them to achieve their goals.

Supported Living Facilitator

As a Supported Living Facilitator, you will be working with disabled people to achieve identified goals towards achieving independence and life skills which increases self-determination and control for the client. You will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide coaching and mentoring to achieve goals.
  • Plan for support sessions in advance.
  • Assess and review progress towards goal achievement.
  • Be a positive role model to our clients and to the wider community.
  • Establish and utilize community linkages to increase the disabled persons natural circle of support.

THE ROLE:

To be successful in this role you will be a good coach and motivator, with an ability to support another person to achieve their goals towards gaining independence.

The focus of the role is to enhance independence, choice and control for disabled people to live a quality of life as valued members of their community.

Supported Care Worker/Caregiver

As a Supported Care Worker you will be working with disabled people to provide a personal care and household management service. The focus is to support them to enable their good life. Support is to be provided in a manner that respects the disabled person's dignity, privacy, freedom of choice and independence as far as practical while providing care.

As a Supported Care Worker you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Duties may include the following tasks:
  • Personal grooming, including assistance with showering, dressing, hair care and nails.
  • Personal hygiene including toileting, continence management, managing pressure areas etc.
  • Getting in and out of bed or wheelchair. Experience with hoist transfers and training with moving and handling is preferred.
  • Household management such as Vacuuming, dusting, mopping, laundry and dishes etc.
  • Meal preparation and dietary care.
